Attending exhibition shows, whether it’s gas, diesel, or steam, is an important part of building community and sharing knowledge on different types of machinery. Small Town Steam is working to build up a community of enthusiasts that spans further than the local shows and exhibitions.

In-Person Activities for Steam Shows
In 2025, we are launching a new approach to get information out there, QR Codes. It’s a simple way to increase engagement at steam and gas shows, tractor pulls, and historical events. We work ahead of time to create a page for our owner’s equipment, including a video and some information. While at shows, the audience can easily scan the QR code on their phone and gain more information on the equipment, and maybe the courage to talk to some of the operators too!
Bringing attention to the uniqueness of exhibitions of equipment is important to us! We are still learning new things about steam engines and we want to share that with as many people as we can. The first steam show where Small Town Steam was initially thought of, one of our founders thought that the term “steam engine” only pertained to trains! Slowly, we are building our own knowledge and discovering so many “new” antiques, and we are doing so by attending more and more show!
Discovering new Shows
Researching with the internet and the Farm Collector Show Directory, we are finding our way to new shows and setting goals to make it to shows in the coming years!
